The Chicano Federation of San Diego County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing empowering opportunities for our diverse community is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019. To commemorate this significant milestone, the organization will host their 50th Anniversary Ball on Saturday, May 11, 2019. The celebration is made possible through the generous support of signature sponsor, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation and premier sponsor, Southwest Airlines. The event will take place at the historic US Grant Hotel in Downtown San Diego.

Gala organizers aim to raise $250,000 to support the Chicano Federation in meeting the community's ever increasing needs for quality child development programs, affordable housing, and additional programs and services for families in San Diego County. Sponsors are still needed to support the 50th Anniversary Ball. Visit www.chicanofederation.org for details.

Celebrating 50 years of service to San Diego County

The Chicano Federation's 50th Anniversary Ball is the agency's largest fundraiser of the year. Hundreds of business and community leaders will enjoy an unforgettable celebration to honor the organization's transformational work and dedication to San Diego County. The event opens with a reception where guests will enjoy complimentary champagne, creative concoctions, and elevated hors d'oeuvres. Then, the event continues with a delectable Latin-inspired cuisine for attendees to enjoy during the dinner program.

Thomas A. Saenz, president and general counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), is the event keynote speaker. Danitza Villanueva, publisher of Giving Back Magazine, will serve as mistress of ceremonies. For the first-time ever, the organization will honor two community-nominated individuals who will receive the Chicano Federation Legacy Award and Chicano Federation Visionary Award for outstanding service and dedication. The night concludes with a live auction and dancing to the beats of a live salsa band.

Honoring our heritage and paving the way into the future

The organization is excited to continue to build upon its many historical successes to continue making an even bigger impact. "The unwavering support from the community has enabled us to grow from grassroots efforts to the established organization it is today," says Nancy Maldonado, chief operating officer, Chicano Federation of San Diego County.
