The Chicano Federation was selected by UnidosUS to participate in the Latino Empowerment Advocacy Project (LEAP) as one of the few affiliates in California and the only one in San Diego County to do voter registration and voter engagement. Through LEAP, UnidosUS affiliates from all over the country will be engaged in a collective effort to not only increase the number of Latinos registered to vote but also increase voter participation within the Latino community. Through this program, Chicano Federation received grant funding to scale up civic engagement work and accomplish the goal of registering over 1,000 new voters by the end of the year.
